Everyone knows what is actually happening when you go up to your room and pretend to do work. Netflix. With this in mind, we’ve put together a list of timeless Netflix series for when you need a little breather from studying. PS: start watching at your own risk! The Student Housing Guide will not be held responsible for missed deadlines, falling grades or greatly reduced social lives.
1. Breaking Bad
This has been dubbed not only the best TV series on Netflix, but the best TV show ever. Whether that’s correct, we’ll let you be the judge. With series 1-5 available on Netflix, you’ll be busy for quite a while.
Skins is definitely to blame for creating false expectations of ‘what you’ll do when you’re old enough to go out’. Remember when you watched that very first series of Skins in 2007 and you thought you’d stay out all night with your mates crashing parties with more drink and drugs readily available and you’d also pull every single night. They lied. But at least Netflix has volumes 1-7 available to watch to fill the time whilst you can’t get a date or afford to go out.
3. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Hilarious, easy to watch entertainment and with over eleven seasons and counting you’ve got plenty to go at! The show centres around a group of degenerate pals who own Paddy’s Bar in South Philly and the preposterous capers they get caught up in.
4. Gossip Girl
Run around New York with S, B, Lonely Boy and Little J, and every other letter of the alphabet. This show will allow you to get involved with the debauchery and luxury of the Upper East Side whilst sat on your ass in pyjamas and eating cereal from a saucepan because you haven’t done the washing up. Oh, how the other half live. You know you love it, XOXO Gossip Girl.
5. Gavin & Stacey
Is there anything more comforting than the sound of Smithy shouting “Gavlar” or the hilarious Welsh musings coming out of Uncle Bryn’s mouth? You can watch series 2 – 3 of Gavin & Stacey on Netflix when you’re after some guaranteed feel-good viewing.
