Reading Student Accommodation
Reading is known globally for hosting one of the best music festivals on earth but Reading has a lot more to offer its students. The Reading It’s not the only festival in town. Reading hosts jazz, real ale, comedy and even comedy-writing festivals throughout the year, too.
Reading has a population of around 235,000 and is big enough to offer a wide range of shops, restaurants, sports venues and bars, but it is still easy to find your way around when you first arrive. In short, it’s a place with a lot to offer.
The town centre is well within walking distance of the University’s Whiteknights and London Road campuses, or takes one of the buses from the Whiteknights campus which runs every seven minutes.
With two major shopping centres in the town centre – the Oracle and Broad Street Mall – you will find all of your favourite high street stores in Reading. Reading is packed with places to eat, and has plenty to satisfy every appetite and budget. The riverside area of the Oracle shopping centre is a buzzing destination in the evening, with a diverse mix of restaurants and bars overlooking the water, along with a 10-screen cinema; you’ll never be short of anything to do in between lectures.
Living on Campus
The University of Reading offers a large selection Reading student accommodation in the form of halls of residences. All student accommodation is either on campus or within easy walking distance and the rents all include utility bills, Wi-Fi, basic contents insurance, maintenance and communal cleaning. Living in halls is a great way to meet people. A committee of students who have previously lived in your hall show you around, help you settle in and arrange social events throughout the year.
Living in Private Accommodation
There is lots of great student accommodation in Reading in the vicinity of the University, from private halls of residences to shared houses. Private halls tend to have all inclusive rents and very high-spec rooms. For students wanting to move away from the halls of residence set up there are plenty of great shared houses with rents ranging from £260 to £300 per calendar month.
