Didsbury is often seen as more upmarket than other student districts. Its restaurants, shops and bars are a draw for adventurous undergrad groups with an eye for something outside Fallowfield. It may also be ideal for couples, families and postgraduates. You might find that some rents are quite high, with tenants paying for the area’s reputation. It has great transport links for both universities. Prices start at around £90pppw.

Rusholme is only a 10 minute bus journey into the city centre. And the Curry Mile is one instance of student heaven, guaranteeing an international, always delicious place to live.

Withington is further out, but is a lot more relaxed. With potentially cheaper rent prices and plenty of independent shops, Withington boasts a great community vibe.

Moss Side and Chorlton are vibrant too. Becoming increasingly popular, the areas not only have loads of parks, bars and restaurants to visit, but are cost effective in their proximity to both universities.

Student halls are also still an option. If you enjoyed it so much the first time, why move?
