Best Student Areas in Derby
Allestree is a residential area surrounded by parks and schools. Although a more remote location, Allestree is just two miles from Derby City Centre and is easily accessible by bus or northern rail services.
Ashbourne Road has a wide range of shared houses available to students, all of which are reasonably priced. With six bedroomed properties asking just £55pw, you’ll have plenty of loose change to hit the local after lectures!
Buxton is an idea for those situated at the Buxton campus. It may be worth looking to move to there, an hour away from the heart of Derby. Buxton is a picturesque town with an array of independent shops, scenic walks and gorgeous architecture.
City Centre is the best place to soak up the friendliness of Derby locals. With plenty of shops, delis and good old country pubs, there’s plenty to do when you get a day off! Nice weather? There are plenty of parks and woodland areas on hand.
Halls of Residence have a number of advantages; bills included, minimum deposits, free parking, safe and secure – definitely a ‘Mum’ approved housing choice. If you loved halls the first time, why not go for them again? Nunnery Court, Princess Alice Court and Sir Peter Hilton Court are all highly recommended halls, all just ten minutes away from campus.
Uttoxeter New Road offers an array of flats and houses for students to rent, with prices from £44pw depending on the size of the property. It takes just 20 minutes to walk to the City Centre and 10 minutes by bus; ideal for early mornings when you just don’t want to leave your bed.
